A: Yes I'm currently open for commissions. Email me @rmeyer@mechanicadaver.art or send me a DM on instagram @mechathespacepirate.
Q: Where is your apparel printed?
A: I have a small screenprint setup and do all of the printing myself by hand. I have a shirt design that I experimented with high-quality direct to film transfers as well.
Q: What kind of stickers do you sell? Can I put them on my car?
A: My stickers are made of vinyl.
They are UV/water resistant and even dishwasher safe! (I tested with my own dishwasher!) You can stick them on your car or water bottle or wherever you want!
Q: Why are you called 'Mecha'?
A: When I was in middle school I really enjoyed writing. This was during the mid-2000s when emo was mainstream.
My pen name was a word that I made up: Mechanicadaver. If you break it down it means "mechanical corpse" and describes an entity similar to a cyborg.
Over time, I continued to use it as an internet handle and a gamertag, but it was hard for people to pronounce so I shortened it to just 'Mecha'.
In 2020 I underwent double jaw surgery for medical reasons. It was as equally life-changing as it was traumatic. It took me a long time to accept the plates and screws in my face, along with having a different appearance. Taking on the 'Mecha' persona has helped me to cope with medical trauma and embrace myself as I am in the present-as a partially metallic human and an artist.
Q: What are your inspirations?
A: Definitely anime/manga, music, and folklore. I really enjoy retro and novelty architecture and am fond of vibrant colors and crazy hairstyles. I gather inspiration from the most random things sometimes, and it's not very profound.
Q: What types of events do you do?
A: I typically do anime/gaming conventions but I also do smaller craft or holiday events that sound fun!
